Computer Requirements

At a minimum, your computer must have:

• A completely installed and functioning ethernet network port
• Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP / Vista
• Other operating systems are compatible but are minimally supported by Horizon Broadband and may require the purchase of a router
• Please be aware that Microsoft no longer supports Windows 95/98/Me and support for Windows 2000 is ending in the near future.

Also, if you want to connect more than one computer to our network, then you will need to either purchase a router from us or provide your own. We prefer that all customers have a router due to the benefits of internet firewall protection and ease of network management. We provide a minimal level of technical support for customer routers. We install and configure ONLY routers that are purchased from us. Router manufacturers provide their own technical support for their products and are often available via a toll-free phone call. We require that you configure your router to respond to anonymous ICMP messages, a.k.a. "pings".

Please ensure that your computer or router can function within these parameters. If we arrive to install the internet service and your computer or router is found to not be compatible with these specifications, your final installation fee will be increased.
